Mental Health Law

The incidence of mental health problems amongst those accused of, or who are victims of crime is much greater than in the general population. We have a specialist team who are dedicated to understanding the complex needs of the victim or accused and aim to find the best solution all round based on the facts and events surrounding the case. Our advocates are regularly instructed in serious and complex cases where there is a mental health issue involved, for example: vulnerable defendants and special measures, fitness to plead, insanity, diminished responsibility and automatism. Our experience and knowledge applies to the sentencing and other disposals available; we work hard to achieve practical and constructive outcomes for those who are dealt with by criminal courts.

We are happy to provide representation at Tribunals and in relation to civil actions.
