Members of Lincoln House Inquest Team Provide Seminar to Blackburn with Darwen Council

This week, Austin Welch, Leila Ghahhary and Lee Hughes provided a seminar to employees of Blackburn with Darwen Council on inquests and coronial law. The seminar explored a number of topics including coroners’ investigations, the powers and duties of coroners, disclosure, practice and procedure at inquests and some of the issues faced by Local Authorities when involved in a coronial investigation.

Members of Lincoln House Chambers are frequently instructed to appear on behalf of public authorities, companies and individuals in inquests and public inquiries throughout England and Wales. Our barristers have been instructed in a number of high profile inquests including:

  • The Hillsborough inquests
  • The inquest touching the death of Corporal Danny Winter (Royal Marine killed in Iraq  by ‘friendly fire’)
  • The inquest touching the deaths of the victims of Derrick Bird ( the Cumbria shootings)

The members of Lincoln House regularly provide seminars and training in relation to inquests and a number of other areas of law and are happy to attend at the offices of clients to do so. Please contact David Wright should you want to discuss instructing a member of our inquest team or to arrange a seminar.
