Anna Chestnutt

Call To The Bar: 2016

Anna’s experience covers a broad spectrum of Criminal Law. She accepts instructions in the Magistrates’ Court, Youth Court and Crown Court in all types of hearings.

Prior to the bar, Anna gained international experience with the Texas Defender Service, an independent charity which focuses on death row appeals. Aside from daily casework and client conferences, Anna was responsible for drafting information documents on the appeals process in Texas.

A recipient of the McDermott QC International Scholarship, Anna had the opportunity to work closely with the American Counsel Association. Her internship took place across various offices of Heyl Rosyter, a multi-disciplinary firm based in Illinois.

As a former Chairperson of the Northern Ireland Youth Assembly Panel, Anna continued to explore the issue of devolution in Northern Ireland during her legal study. A piece critiquing devolution appears in the fourth volume of the Manchester Review of Law, Crime and Ethics.

Anna has volunteered with a mental health charity and has experience of dealing with sensitive situations.
