Nurse faces jail term after patient assault

David Hadfield, 54, of Lower Carr Lane, Oldham was a nurse in the intensive care unit at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

In August 2013 was accused of head butting Thomas Patient, an elderly patient in his care who was critically ill. On 14th October 2014 Mr Hadfield was convicted by a jury at Preston Crown Court of a single count of unlawful wounding. HHJ Simon Newell adjourned sentence after warning Mr Hadfield that he faces the prospect of a jail term.
