TRAFFICKING GANG JAILED FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS

Three men and a woman have today been jailed, at Preston Crown Court, for a total of over 30 years after being convicted of people trafficking for exploitation following a ten week trial. Imrich Bodor, a Slovak national, 45 of Clipstone Street, West Bowling, Bradford was responsible for trafficking a Slovakian woman into the country following her being kidnapped abroad. Abdul Saboor Shinwary of Washington Street, Bradford organised a sale of the woman to a man named Azam Khan of 1 Brougham Street, Burnley. Shinwary styled himself as a matchmaker who found eastern european women to marry Pakistani men who wanted to avoid deportation. Azam Khan forced the woman to go through a sham Islamic marriage before raping her. For the Prosecution: Joe Boyd for CPS Burnley.
