Innocent father cleared of sexual abuse charge
Following months of campaigning, the Crown Prosecution Service have finally offered no evidence in the case of a father accused of raping and seriously sexually abusing his 6 year old daughter. Kate Blackwell QC was instructed by Matthew Claughton of Olliers Solicitors. Concerns were raised about the allegations, primarily on the grounds of what the defence contended was irrefutable medical evidence that exonerated the defendant. The case was eventually halted on the day before the trial was due to start at Burnley Crown Court and not guilty verdicts were entered against the defendant.
