Lincoln House Chambers responds to AGFS Consultation
The Lincoln House Chambers response to the Ministry of Justice’s AGFS Consultation is based upon an analysis of the impact that the proposed Scheme will have on barristers fees. A series of worked examples from real cases have been produced comparing the old Scheme with the proposed Scheme.
In summary, Lincoln House Chambers takes the view that the new proposed Scheme will produce a significant drop in fee income from defence legal aid work. As a result, the proposed Scheme will cause the most junior barristers to suffer further cuts to their income and the current difficulties in attracting and retaining talented young barristers at the criminal Bar will only be exacerbated.
Lincoln House Chambers emphasises that it has produced a sample collection of cases and we invite others in the profession to undertake their own calculations.
