Anna Chestnutt successfully defends nurse in the NMC
At the Nursing and Midwifery Council (‘NMC’) sitting in Stratford, Anna Chestnutt represented a Care Home Manager and Nurse on allegations of gross professional misconduct and dishonesty.
Upon hearing evidence for three days, the Fitness to Practice Panel found the contested charges not proved. In relation to other charges which had been admitted, Anna successfully argued that these did not amount to misconduct, and the nurse’s fitness to practice was not impaired. As a result, no sanctions were imposed.
Anna developed her interest in this area of law through completing a specialist module during the BPTC on professional discipline, and volunteering for the Medical Practitioner Tribunal Service (‘MPTS’) helpline at BPP University.
