Shirley Duckworth & Kerry Morgan (Morgan Brown Solicitors) Secure Acquittal For Client In High Profile Rape Case

This case involved an allegation of rape that was widely reported in 2022. On the evening of the alleged incident the defendant was caught on body worn video camera making false complaints that he was the victim of rape at the scene. He had also been caught on CCTV at the custody suite showing remorse for his behaviour on the evening. The issue in the case was whether there was a reasonable belief in consent when he and the complainant went into a bin store at a retail park after meeting on a night out.

The defendant was acquitted after a re-trial. During the first trial (when the defendant was represented by a different legal team, including a KC) he was convicted of perverting the course of justice.
