The jury also heard evidence on the adequacy of police first aid training and the potential for survival, emphasising the critical nature of timely and appropriate medical response in such scenarios.
In another inquest where David served as CTI, he called upon an expert to elucidate the requirements of a Nikah (marriage) ceremony. The female was isolated and honour-based violence ensued. This case involved a male who had been convicted of severe sadistic sexual offences and, while under a hospital order, formed a relationship with a staff member. He later married and committed similar offences against his partner while on conditional licence. The inquest relied on expert forensic psychiatric opinions and a Domestic Homicide Review. The judge-led inquest concluded with a comprehensive narrative consistent with the criminal convictions, highlighting significant missed opportunities by the authorities to prevent further harm.
