Murder and Burial of Dariusz Michalowski: Men Jailed
Two men have been jailed for life for the torture and murder of a man 12 years ago in West Yorkshire. Dariusz Michalowski died in 2011 but his remains were not found until 2020. His body had been buried in a makeshift grave by a reservoir in the Mixenden area of Halifax. An investigation identified the culprits after an associate decided to share the location of the human remains with West Yorkshire Police and the NCA. At Leeds Crown Court on 26th November 2023 Adam Tolwinski, formerly of Keighley, and Ernest Weber, whose last address was in Germany, were jailed for life by HHJ Bayliss KC. They had previously been convicted of the murder of Mr Michalowski by a jury. They were each given a minimum term to serve of 33 years. The sentence took account of the fact that, in the Court’s view, the killing was characterised by sadistic conduct towards the man they killed. A third man, Piotr Weber was jailed for offences arising out of the cover-up and burial of of the deceased.
Tim Storrie KC, leading Damian Nolan of Exchange Chambers, Liverpool acted for Ernest Weber, instructed by Matthew Corn of Olliers Solicitors. To read more follow the links:
