Abdul Iqbal KC & Kitty Colley successful in Appeal Against Conviction in the Court of Appeal – R -v- Sheikh [2025] EWCA Crim 38
Abdul Iqbal KC and Kitty Colley have successfully argue in the Court of Appeal that the convictions of KS and SS, for the alleged offence of causing or allowing a vulnerable adult to suffer serious physical harm within a household, were unsafe and should be quashed.
This complex case involved a multiplicity of medical and other expert evidence and the correct legal construction of section 5 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004.
The case attracted huge national media publicity at the time of the conviction and has general importance to the scope of criminal allegations of causing or allowing the death or causing serious physical harm to children or vulnerable adults.
Abdul Iqbal KC practises principally in serious crime (homicide, terrorism, serious fraud) and regulatory law (professional discipline and sports law).
Kitty Colley specialises in serious crime.
