Lincoln House Chambers are fully committed to equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of our business.

ED&I Policies

Rachel Cooper is Chambers Equality & Diversity Officer. Rachel has undertaken Bar Council training in Equality and Diversity and has the overall responsibility for monitoring and reviewing our ED&I strategies and policies, including our specific policies for:

  • Fair access to work
  • Flexible working and reasonable adjustments
  • Parental leave
  • Anti-bullying, anti-harassment and anti-racism

Other members of Chambers contribute to policy development and reviews where applicable.

All policies apply to all barristers and staff and are designed to ensure that no form of discrimination is permitted at Chambers, and that any form of discrimination is actioned accordingly.

ED&I Training

All barristers and staff undertake annual compulsory ED&I training, including notices of any policy updates which are implemented to align with sector guidance.

Chambers barristers and staff who are involved in any aspect of recruitment, undertake fair recruitment training.

We analyse, review and utilise this data to develop positive actions based on the outcomes.

ED&I Initiatives

Chambers are committed to reducing and/or removing barriers for those who face them and to improving conditions for those from under represented groups, specifically in the following areas:

  • Accessibility

Chambers have completed an accessibility self-audit, focusing on common access issues and have specific accessibility for those with disabilities.

  • Race and social mobility

We have an internal working group focusing on actions from the Bar Standards Board’s Anti-Racist Statement and the Bar Council’s Framework for Taking Action on Equality.

We have completed a race equality audit to identify the barriers to race equality within a practice and are reviewing positive action measures, all members have undertook comprehensive race training and have produced an anti- racism statement.
