Case Against Nurse Discontinued After Legal Argument
A judge has halted proceedings taken against a district nurse charged with offences arising out of her care of an elderly patient.
On 12th November, at the Crown Court at Barrow, HHJ Lunt dismissed proceedings against a Blackburn nurse who had been the target of allegations of wilful neglect of a man in her care. The patient had contracted sepsis and subsequently died. Following argument the court agreed with the submission that the Crown’s evidence failed to establish any negligence on the part of the client in the course of her care of the deceased. She was duly discharged from the proceedings. Tim Storrie acted for the client, instructed by Keith Rennison of DRN Burnley.
