Henry Blackshaw prosecutes complicated firearms case involving issues of antiquity
Jones, a lifelong gun enthusiast and expert, who held many firearms and shotguns lawfully on certificates, had also accumulated a collection of side arms and a sub machine gun for which he had no such permissions. The case was listed for trial, the issue being whether the guns involved could be defined as “Antique”, and so held lawfully. The number and variety of weapons required a good knowledge of the history and technology involved in their manufacture and use. There was expert evidence on both sides of the case. In the event the defence conceded the argument and guilty pleas were entered.
