Kimberley Obrusik leads Holly Nelson in prison smuggling conspiracy

Kimberley Obrusik leads Holly Nelson in prosecuting Operation Harrogate, the prosecution of an organised crime group led by convicted drug dealers in HMP Preston and HMP Lancaster Farms.

The conspiracies to convey List A and B items (drugs, phones and sim cards) into prison were made possible through the utilisation of a prison nurse, and a partner of a defendant smuggling items concealed on their body into the custodial institutions. Sophisticated drone flights were used to increase the amount of contraband conveyed into HMP Lancaster Farms which was dropped into the exercise areas for later collection by the prisoners.

Fourteen members of the OCG were sentenced on 21st March 2025 and received in excess of 50 years’ imprisonment cumulatively.

The case was investigated by Lancashire Constabulary’s Exploitation team, and prosecuted by Zoe Salter of the Crown Prosecution Service.
