Lincoln House Chambers Proud to Host “Advocate” Pro Bono and Your Practice Evening
“Advocate” is a charity that finds free legal assistance from volunteer barristers. They match members of the public who need pro bono legal assistance with barristers who are willing to donate their time and expertise in deserving cases for those who are unable to obtain legal aid and cannot afford to pay.
Advocate is the Bar’s national pro bono charity that structure their management of cases in a way that makes it possible for barristers to balance a dedicated practice with making a significant contribution to the community.
On Wednesday 14th February, Lincoln House Chambers hosted an event for Advocate which was well attended by members of the bar from several of Manchester’s leading Chambers. Advocate supporters, Michael Hayton KC, Samantha Hillas KC & Sophie Cartwright KC each spoke of their experiences of undertaking work with Advocate and highlighted both the tremendous effects it had made to assisted peoples lives and how they had each benefitted from their experiences.
Barristers from second six all the way to KC can sign up to volunteer. Please read about how the Advocate team manage the work so it is risk free and offers a number of opportunities to undertake interesting work, mentor or be mentored and build your profile whilst making a pro bono contribution that greatly benefits individuals, communities, access to, and administration of justice.
