Lincoln House Chambers is sad to have to announce the death of David Sumner.
Lincoln House Chambers is sad to have to announce the death of David Sumner, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday. David was one of the founding members of chambers and was our first head of chambers, holding the post for the best part of a decade.
David had a practice which covered the whole of the circuit, albeit that his primary love was practising in the courts of Lancashire. His practice was huge – he was very much in demand. He was one of the most instinctive and effective cross-examiners that many of us have ever seen. He was a natural jury advocate and had the capacity to hold juries entranced by his loquacity.
He retired some years ago and lived in Cumbria.
All the members of chambers send our condolences to his family and wish to record our appreciation of his contribution to the success of chambers.
