Suzanne Goddard QC secures acquittal in £4m illegal party drugs probe

After a five week trial at Bolton Crown Court, Rebecca Brooks aged 33 , represented by Suzanne Goddard QC, was acquitted of playing a leading role in a web based “party highs” business with a multi -million pound turnover based in Prestwich.

The business was fronted by Paula White, a former accountant, who was charged with conspiracy to supply Class A ,Class B and C drugs and two counts of money laundering, following one of the biggest-ever police investigations into the supply of illegal party drugs.

Over a 3 year period, the business  sold “legal” highs  across several websites, as well as tanning and beauty products. Test purchases carried out by the police revealed that in fact the drugs supplied were controlled drugs.  In a trial concluding last week, Rebecca Brooks and one co defendant were acquitted , with 3 others being convicted.
