Tim Storrie QC led Sarah Magill in the defence of one of ten young defendants prosecuted for conspiracy to commit murder over nine weeks at Manchester Crown Court.
They were instructed by Victoria Thompson of Tuckers Solicitors. The prosecution case relied heavily on drill lyrics.
The defence relied upon a report written by an expert in drill. During defence evidence, music was played in court by the music group who were on trial, by the rapper Aitch, by Samurai and by NPK/Sin Squad and their lyrics were put before the jury to counter the prosecution’s submissions about how the jury should treat drill lyrics when deciding upon guilt.
He was acquitted of conspiracy to murder and convicted of conspiracy to commit s.18 GBH.
