Tom Worsfold Secures Suspended Sentence in Paternity Fraud Case
Tom Worsfold, instructed by Peter Haney of Bell Lamb and Joynson Solicitors, successfully defends a rare case at Liverpool Court involving allegations of forged paternity tests.
Originally, the Crown alleged nearly two years of fraud and over £10,000 in financial gain. Following an application to dismiss and written representations to the CPS, the scope of the charge was significantly narrowed to a one-month period and £300 in loss.
This led to a favourable sentencing indication and, despite national media coverage, resulted in the defendant – a young mother – avoiding immediate custody at an emotional sentencing hearing.
